Monopoly Dreams Melbourne

(0) Price:

Melbourne Central, near Emporium, has opened its doors! Fully recreates the game content and character roles Dice-rolling games, buying land and building houses, bank heist games, 4D movies, prison scenes – they have it all! Many games offer prizes, making them fun and full of surprises.

If you get tired of playing, there’s a themed restaurant for relaxation. You won’t get bored spending an entire day there!

For two adults: $99 AUD Upon entry, take an elevator to the Monopoly History Museum, showcasing the development history and classic Monopoly games.

Things to do at Monopoly Dreams Melbourne

  • 4D Experience Total duration: 3.5 minutes. The viewing experience is good; during the session, chairs rotate, and there are water and air jets to enhance immersion.
  • Infrared Crossing Playable alone or with a partner, lasts for 60 seconds. If the red line is touched multiple times, the game ends, making it quite challenging.

Monopoly City Zone

  • Money Grab Game Lasts about 20 seconds. Money grabbed can be exchanged for real money at the souvenir shop and café (café not yet open). Maximum use is $5 at a time. Money can also be taken as a souvenir. 1000 Monopoly dollars = 1 AUD.
  • Landlord Property Card One ticket gets one property card. Before redeeming, play a game across from it for a chance to get an extra card. Enter your name on the landlord property card to get a personalised one with a place for a stamped seal. Remember to stamp; it’s not very obvious.
  • City Illumination Continuous jumping or clapping hands can illuminate the entire city. It’s a physical activity; experience as needed, as the park indoors can be a bit stuffy.
  • Escape from Jail A decryption mini-game to guess a password with a numeric combination. Free activities conclude here.

Paid Activities

  • Claw Machine $10 = 5 game coins. The more you buy, the cheaper. Game coins can be used for the claw machine and gashapon machine. They are Monopoly-style coins. Keep a few as souvenirs. The claw strength was strong when I went; I got some good catches.
  • Gashapon 6 game coins each time. Includes badges and keychains with good quality, not sold outside the souvenir shop.
  • Three Small Games $25 = 3 game opportunities. All quite challenging, similar to the individually paid games at LUNA PARK. We played three games and didn’t win anything, but the staff gave us a small badge as a consolation prize.

Paradise Country

(0) Price:

On a weekday, we headed to the haven of Paradise Country, a farm on the Gold Coast. With our theme park annual passes, we enjoyed the unlimited visits, although a couple of times would suffice given its size. While younger kids may love it, older kids might find it less exciting compared to his preference for Movie World.

Spotting the sculpture of Shaun the Sheep indicates you’re in the right place.

The combined ticket includes a short train ride lasting a few minutes, Shaun the Sheep’s song and dance performance, an entertaining interaction between Shaun the Sheep and koalas, and a sheep-shearing show. You can take the wool home as a souvenir – the fluffy wool is adorable. Clancy’s Opal Mine requires an additional $10 fee, providing a gold mining experience.

For those planning to visit Paradise Country, here’s a detailed guide:

– Ticket: $49 for adults, with various package options. Breakfast with koalas is a popular choice.
– Catch the performances:
– 10:30 Stockman Show
– 11:00 Stock Horse Arena & Billy Tea Show (try freshly brewed tea)
– 11:30 & 13:30 Shaun’s Aussie Adventure Show, a hit with kids
– 12:00-13:45 Don’t miss the pony rides; $5 for a short ride.

Photo opportunities:

– Koala photos at 10:00 & 14:00
– Snake photos from 12:00-12:30; $25.

The park has restaurants offering both à la carte and buffet options, including children’s meals.

Explore the park where you’ll find koalas, kangaroos, peacocks, dogs, lizards, and more. Don’t forget the mini-train ride at the entrance, lasting about three minutes.

Park Hours: 10:00-15:30 (Monday-Sunday)

Lyell Deer Sanctuary

(0) Price:

Around Brisbane, there’s a super adorable deer haven just like Nara in Japan! Lyell Deer Sanctuary, about 45 minutes from the city, is a picture-perfect deer estate perfect for a weekend day trip. The private farm also houses animals like peacocks, cows, and goats.

One group: $10 entry pass (up to six people). Deer feed: $1/bag.

Meet the deer

There are various deer species; those you can feed outside are brown female deer. There are also two young fallow deer, one with the brown deer, always getting teased but incredibly cute! The farm owner suggests feeding them from outside the iron fence; if you step inside, the deer may compete for food. Any slight movement with a food bag in hand, and the deer will follow you. They’re gentle, making it a popular spot for families with kids.

Outside the deer enclosure, you’ll find other animals like chickens, ducks, and peacocks, all freely roaming. There’s also a majestic white stag nearby, but for safety, you can only observe from outside the iron fence.

Remember not to bring food bags into the enclosure; the deer may nibble them for treats. It’s best to feed them outside the fence or discreetly from your pocket. One clever brown deer follows visitors for treats!

The deer are friendly, allowing you to get close and hug them! The picturesque scenery is great for vibrant outfits, and ample parking is available.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

(0) Price:

Holding Koalas

The cost for holding a koala was around $39 per person (please double-check this) while touching a koala was $25 per person. When purchasing tickets, if koala holding isn’t available, you can opt for the koala-holding experience.

The koala-holding experience typically involves a staff member placing the koala on you for a quick photo, and it’s over in no time. They also take pictures for you. If you’re a bit apprehensive like me, you’ll have a mixed expression in your photo.

With the koala-touching option, you enter the koala’s area with your friends. The koala is usually perched on a tree, and you can pet it for a while and take pictures. It lasts approximately 2-3 minutes per person. If you want group photos, you can ask a staff member to take them using your own device. It’s a great option for those who prefer a more leisurely experience.

Feeding Kangaroos

You can purchase kangaroo food at the entrance or inside the convenience store within the sanctuary. A bag of kangaroo food typically costs $2. When we went in the afternoon, the kangaroos were a bit lazy and not particularly interested in eating; they were sunbathing, relaxed, and resembled small, gentle sheep.

Buy Tickets and Koala Holding Experience in Advance

Visit the official website and search “Lone Pine” on Google. Find the page with the P2 zoo logo, where you can purchase both admission tickets and tickets for holding or touching koalas. Admission for adults costs $49 per person. General admission tickets are valid all day with no time restrictions. However, tickets for holding or touching koalas are scheduled based on the chosen time slot.

After completing the payment, you’ll receive an email with a QR code, which you’ll present at the entrance.

Transportation

Take an Uber directly from your hotel to the zoo. It’s a fast and comfortable option. However, returning via Uber can be challenging as there might be longer wait times. Consider taking the bus from the zoo on your way back.

Sydney Tramway Museum

(0) Price:

Next to Loftus Railway Station, there’s the Sydney Tramway Museum, which happens to be the oldest tram museum in Australia. The museum’s collection features a variety of vintage trams from different eras, brimming with historical significance.

The most significant highlight of the museum is the opportunity to take unlimited rides on century-old trams. You can shuttle between Sutherland, the museum itself, and the Royal National Park. During the ride, you’ll even cross a highway, which is sure to excite the kids!

We visited the annual vintage tramway festival, riding a century-old nostalgic tram departing from Central Railway Station and heading south.

Because it was a festival day, there was a special buzz in the air. The event featured various vintage cars and buses on display, attracting train enthusiasts from all over the country, as well as seniors dressed in retro fashion.

The museum houses a diverse collection of vintage trams, most of which you can board to experience and take photos. You can even step into the driver’s compartment – the kids absolutely loved it!

The ticket includes unlimited rides on the vintage tram back and forth to Royal National Park. Riding along the narrow tracks through the jungle was an unforgettable experience.

We’re thinking of coming back on a regular weekend to visit the museum in the morning and then enjoy a leisurely afternoon by the waters of Royal National Park. It would make for a perfect day trip.

Ticket: $20

Jingeri Park

(0) Price:

A while ago, we visited the new park in Bayside and fell in love with its coastal atmosphere. It felt like being by the seaside with features like an over 8-meter-tall lighthouse, a long jetty slide, and various climbing structures that are more suitable for kids aged 3 and above. There’s also a nearby display home you can explore.

Apart from the lighthouse slide, there’s also a sand play area and a basketball court. With brand-new facilities, it’s a must-visit for families living nearby.

Ben’s Bees – Melbourne’s Charming Honey Hut

(0) Price:

Ben’s Bees Honey Hut is nestled in the Blackburn neighbourhood, under the bright blue sky, and the yellow little house looks particularly charming.

The interior is creatively decorated with simple displays of various products, such as honey, honeycombs, beeswax soaps, and more.

The owner has a very laid-back approach – the hut is typically unmanned, and customers are trusted to leave their payment in an open box since it’s an honour system. They only accept cash, and it’s best to have exact change, as they might not have change available.

On the walls, there are layers of notes from customers to the shop owner. We remember one customer specifically mentioned driving all the way from Adelaide to buy this honey, truly certifying their love for it!

Not only is their honey delicious, but it’s also locally sourced pure honey. Plus, it’s quite affordable, with a large 1.5kg jar costing only $30.

They also have an official website where you can find beekeeping books and supplies. And they offer hive removal services for residents. Established in 2008, their business spans beekeeping, environmental awareness, and community engagement. Overall, they come across as a company filled with passion and a sense of responsibility, with a perfect 5-star rating on Google!

If you or someone in your family has pollen allergies, you should definitely give their honey a try. It’s also a great addition to cereal. And if it crystallizes in cold weather, just place it in hot water to restore its original form.

For those feeling anxious, visiting this honey hut might be quite therapeutic and help rescue your mood.

The Deck Kids

(0) Price:

Today, we took the two kids to visit the newly opened family-friendly cafe in Brighton. The Deck Kids – 26 Outer Crescent, Brighton 3186.

A cafe specially designed for kids to play in, Inside the restaurant, there are numerous entertainment facilities in the dedicated children’s area, There’s a play kitchen, a mini supermarket, and a little construction site for the kids to enjoy playing house! Loads of fun!

It operates by appointment, and you need to make an advance reservation online and pay $8 per person. Children below 12 months are free. The cafe is recommended for kids aged 1-6. While dining at the cafe, the amount paid for the reservation is credited, so it’s like this part is free.

The cafe is open from Monday to Sunday, with four sessions each day, each lasting 1.5 hours. The sessions are at 8:45 am – 10:15 am, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, 12:15 pm – 1:45 pm, and 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm.

The play area inside the restaurant (shown in the second picture) is similar to Interaxcity in Malvern (which I recommended in another post), but it’s relatively smaller in scale.

The dining area in the cafe is also quite small, with about four tables, accommodating around 20 people.

In the total duration of an hour and a half, the kids still didn’t want to leave, so they had to squeeze in playtime between meals (relaxed parents, they eat when they want to). But this allowed the grandparents to have a relaxed time and chat with friends.

The cafe also hosts parties (shown in the third picture), and if you’re interested, you can inquire about pricing. As for the food, we found it to be decent. As long as it frees up an hour and a half, any food would do.
