Aqua Golf

(0) Price:

Experience the thrill of skipping golf balls on the water! Aqua Golf is incredibly relaxing. Although it’s called ‘water golf,’ it’s a whole different game from traditional golf. No worries if you’re not good at golf – the gameplay is super simple.

You can purchase a bucket of balls at the front desk ($10 per basket), grab a club that suits you, and find a booth to start hitting balls!

What’s exciting is that they have various difficulty levels for the floating baskets on the water. If you manage to hit one, you can win cash prizes ranging from $15 to $300!

Hitting balls into the water is a great stress reliever!

Just swing your arms in a circular motion and hit away. It’s perfect for releasing emotions, but be easy on the strength – swinging too hard might make your arms ache.

After a round, your mind will feel light and relaxed. The splashing sound, water flying, and some balls bouncing like skipping stones – challenge your friends to see who’s more skilled.

No technical skills are required, just have fun! There are several rows of targets in the water. Hitting the ones in the front gets you a ‘one more bucket’ reward, while hitting the cash prize targets in the back requires some skill!

Operating Hours: Open every day at 10:00 am, closing at 11:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10:30 pm on Sundays. Closed at 9:30 pm on other days.

Raging Waters Sydney (Opens During Summer)

(0) Price:

Raging Waters Sydney typically operates during the summer season, approximately between October and April. During this period, the weather is generally hot, making it the ideal time to visit the water park.

Experience

The main area is divided into four sections, and we explored the parts with slides on both sides, leaving the other two for the kids.

  • The “yellow-green big trumpet” in the left area is quite fun (compared to other slides).
  • The “half pipe” in the right area is also good, it’s a 90° skateboard slide.
  • The remaining slides are just for experiencing a bit of excitement
  • Artificial beach surfing area: The sand is very fine, and there are free lounge chairs and umbrellas for shade!

What to eat

They sell pizza, burgers, fried chicken, fries, etc., basically enough to fill you up at reasonable prices.

Locker Rental

Available in small, large, and family sizes.

First, get a wristband, then choose the locker size you want, swipe the corresponding sensor, and then pay!

What to Bring

  • Sunscreen! And it needs to be waterproof. Can’t be lazy if you want to play and avoid sunburn!
  • Sunglasses (It’s too sunny! Can’t see anything without them).
  • Swimsuit

Tips

  • They check for any prohibited food at the entrance.
  • At the entrance to the slide area, you can leave slippers, glasses, bags, etc. (even if you have a waterproof bag, you can’t take your phone up). (Cover the glasses and bag with a sun protection shirt).
  • There are lockers on the right side as you enter the park. If all the lockers at the entrance are taken, walk further into the park; there are many more lockers inside.

Kaboo Studio

(0) Price:

We booked a session at Kaboo Studio in advance, allowing the kids to unleash their imaginations and doodle freely. It was truly a memorable experience!

You can book a classic session online for an hour, choosing from five colours. If you want more colours, it’s an additional $3 each, or you can use leftover paint for free. The studio is spacious, accommodating up to 8 people painting simultaneously.

Children should be accompanied by a parent, and before you start, they provide guidance on how to use the tools. Our little artist had a great time, spending around 40 minutes creating art.

The experience

This is a unique art studio located in Bondi, Sydney. What sets it apart from regular studios? There are no rules here! You can freely splash ink onto the canvas and even use a toothbrush for painting. No need to worry about getting paint on the walls or floor because the entire studio is designed with ink splatters – you can only imagine how much fun the decorators had!

Perfect for families, couples, and friends looking to capture the moment. Make sure to book in advance for a one-hour creative experience. The solo price is $59, inclusive of all painting supplies. A friendly reminder: wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy, as they provide a raincoat-like cover and protective face shields to prevent paint from splattering into your eyes.

After a brief introduction, the studio staff will guide you on how to use various tools for ink splattering, making it easy for beginners. Our session was filled with kids, making it highly recommended for family outings.

Following the instructions, each person can choose from a selection of five paint colours. If you’re going with a group, it’s suggested that each person selects different colours to share and experiment with. Then, let the creative process begin – there are no limitations, just let your imagination run wild!

Cactus Country

(0) Price:

During the school holidays, if you don’t take the kids out, you’ll end up quarrelling at home with them. So, are you ready to take them out for a stroll?

Cactus Country is recommended for all moms and dads who love taking photos of their little ones!

3 hours from Melbourne to the Mexican Cactus Kingdom – though a bit of a drive, it’s highly recommended! If you find a same-day round trip from Cactus Country to be a bit strenuous, you can plan a two-day, one-night itinerary. Along the way, you can explore the town of Shepparton.

As soon as you stop the car, you’re greeted with super cute coloured scenes, reminiscent of the movie ‘Coco,’ filled with exotic Mexican elements: cacti, skulls, deserts, guitars, and wide-brimmed hats.

When we visited, the sun was shining bright. The garden isn’t large, with about four or five tracks, but there’s little shade, so it can get quite hot.

At the entrance, there are several wide-brimmed hats available for visitors to use for photos – they are quite heavy, though. In late October, many cacti are in bloom!

The cafe at the entrance offers drinks and meals at reasonable prices. After strolling and taking photos, you can sit in the courtyard with an Iced Margarita! The Tacos are also good, priced at $18 for 3 pieces.

Address: 4986 Murray Valley Hwy, Strathmerton VIC 3641, or simply search ‘Cactus Country’ on Google Maps.
Ticket: A$20, but if you book online in advance, it’s $17.5.

Tropical Fruit World

(0) Price:

Tropical Fruit World is located in New South Wales, about 40 kilometres from the Gold Coast city centre, near the Gold Coast Airport, if you live in Burleigh or the Gold Coast, it’s worth a visit!

After exchanging tickets, walk about 200 meters to taste the fruits first. There will be staff explaining, and then you can taste the fruits for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, hop on a tractor.
The driver will explain while driving, with a midway stop where everyone can taste some other tropical fruits (many of which you might not be able to name), as well as fresh Hawaiian nuts.

A small zoo where you can feed sheep, chickens, and horses. A boat ride (15 minutes) to a playground for a 15-20 minute stop. Children can play with sand, and there’s a basketball court and a soccer field, with free lemonade provided. After that, take the tractor back to the front desk, and the whole process takes about two hours.

There are many types of fruits here, and the seasonal fresh fruits are delicious too!

The restaurant here offers some simple lunches and their ice cream is very popular (you can choose from three flavours)!

Overall, this park is suitable for a family outing, highly recommended!

You can book tickets on the official website, and locals get half-price (just show your Queensland driver’s license). Make sure you book the tour in advance, approximately one tour every hour. Keep in mind the time difference, so if you’re booking from Queensland, remember to adjust the time by one hour. Otherwise, like us, you’ll have to leave an hour early!

There are plenty of parking spaces, and at the front desk, there’s a small fruit market where you can choose some tropical fruits at quite reasonable prices.

Rocky Creek Strawberry Farm

(0) Price:

November, it’s that time of year again when Melbourne enters various fruit-picking seasons. This time, we made plans and took our little ones to the strawberry farm, Rocky Creek.

Once inside, we walked past the cafe and shop and then saw a small pavilion where you can buy tickets. Adults $12, children $6, and children under 4 don’t need tickets.

Adults get a big box, and kids get a small box. Although kids under 4 don’t need to pay, they still get a small box.

Unlike cherry picking, the staff here mentioned that you can eat 1 or 2 while picking, but not too many. The strawberries picked and taken away in the box should be able to close the lid; otherwise, there will be an additional fine.

After a short walk, we reached the strawberry fields. The area is not very large, but a section has been designated for picking. Although it didn’t rain, there was still some mud, so it’s recommended for kids to wear rain shoes, and hats, and apply sunscreen and mosquito repellent!

You can go deeper inside, there are more and larger strawberries. The ones at the top are probably already picked.

After picking strawberries, you can sit in the cafe and try their famous strawberry sundae. They also have some simple desserts, cakes, and coffee.

After eating, you can go to the Rosebud Foreshore playground, have a picnic for lunch.

From the perspective of entertaining kids, picking strawberries is enjoyable; after all, kids are very interested in these activities. However, if we focus on the strawberries alone, they are not particularly outstanding. The big ones are not ripe, and the ripe ones are very small, and not very sweet. But they are definitely fresh.

If the weather is good on the weekend and you want some family activities, this strawberry farm is still a good choice as part of a Mornington day trip.

NOVEMBER – APRIL (U-PICK SEASON) Open 7 days: 10am – 5pm

MAY – OCTOBER (OFF SEASON) Friday – Sunday: 11am – 4pm

Caversham Wildlife Park

(0) Price:

Giving a big shoutout to Caversham Wildlife Park! This place is perfect for interacting with Australia’s wild animals!

How to get there: Take a taxi or Uber from Perth, about a 30-minute ride, costing around 30-35 AUD one way. Getting back is also smooth, there is no need to worry about the location being remote.

Plan your day

9:00-9:15 – First round of Koala photos. Unlike the separate payment for Koala holding, this is included in the ticket, and you can touch the koala’s back during the photo.

9:30-9:45 – Visit the wombats; they are incredibly cute and silly. Australia seems to be a haven for adorable animals. In the same room, you can touch snakes and lizards, and get up close with parrots and owls.

10:00-10:30 – Molly’s Farm, watch the show (sheepdog herding, sheep shearing, whip cracking, etc.). The sheep are truly at the bottom of the food chain in this zoo; they might get scared and forced to run naked, and in the end, humans get to touch them. After the show, you can queue to experience milking cows.

10:40-11:00 – After the show, take a stroll around the farm, see alpacas, camels, and enter a small house with peacocks, goats, and more.

11:00-11:40 – Feed the kangaroos. There’s free kangaroo food at the park entrance; take a handful and approach the kangaroos slowly. Some may come closer to eat. Some might be too lazy and full from the morning, just lounging around.

11:45-12:00 – Sit on the bench in the Koala area and wait for your turn to hold a koala. Plan for your male companion to practice photo angles. I want a beautiful photo with a koala! Buy the Koala holding ticket at the souvenir shop just after entering, 35 AUD, with two time slots per day, distributed in order of purchase.

12:00-12:10 – Holding the koala. It’s simple, open your arms, imagine you’re a tree, and the koala will cling to you. Hold it gently, and it’s done! It’s so soft, cute, and well-behaved! Totally worth the 35 dollars! The keeper will give it a branch, and it will quietly eat in your arms. After finishing one branch, it’s on to the next person.

12:10-12:20 – Take a look at the little penguins, ending a delightful morning!

Additional Tips

Showtimes (especially for Koalas, wombats, and farm performances) can be found on the official website and the map provided at the entrance.

The park is small, a quick walk around. Most of the time is spent interacting with animals; 3-4 hours is enough.

When in Perth, you must go!! The experience is fantastic!!

Fire Services Museum of Victoria

(0) Price:

On Sunday, we went to the Fire Services Museum with the kids. Both little ones are big fans of fire trucks, and as soon as we walked in, they were amazed and excited, running around joyfully. Since there were no other visitors on Sunday, the kids practically had the whole place to themselves.

The museum building itself has a history of 130 years. Right across from the main entrance is St Patrick’s Cathedral.

The exhibition hall is actually quite small, but the highlight is a vintage fire truck in the middle. The little ones can climb on it and play. It museum has 13,000 pieces of firefighting equipment from the old times. There are two sets of helmets and firefighting suits for kids to try on.

For kids who love fire trucks, it’s a decent initial experience. When the kids are a bit older, we plan to visit the Firefighter Experience Museum at DFO next time. It seems like it would be even more fun over there.

The Fire Services Museum of Victoria opens every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

Admission is $10 for adults, free for children, and $17 for a family of two adults and two children.

Located near Carlton Gardens, after the visit, you can also go to the park for more fun. A happy and relaxing day for the kids and parents alike!
