Hillview Farmstay - Glamping and Things to Do

Because we’re vacationing in Canberra, I discovered this hidden gem farm nearby – Hillview Farmstay. It’s a bit far from Sydney, about a four-and-a-half-hour drive, but closer to Canberra, around a half-hour drive from Wagga Wagga. There are two or three types of unique tents available, and those who prefer houses can also choose not to stay in tents and opt for small buildings!

This farmstay (Hillview Farmstay) has many animals and offers feeding activities for the little animals twice a day, as well as breakfast. The eggs provided for breakfast are fresh, many of them freshly gathered from the chicken coop! Additionally, the farm also has a swimming pool and a game room!

Accommodation and Glamping Experience

Knowing how difficult it is to book their Dometent and how popular it is, we booked their Dometent half a year in advance. Upon arrival, we found out there were only two. Perhaps the difficulty in booking is why, but it’s totally worth it

The Dometent comes with a refrigerator, small kitchen, and bathroom. Outside the tent, there’s also a BBQ stove!

The DomeTents are all equipped with air conditioning, a refrigerator (stocked with basic ingredients for breakfast the next day: toast, bacon, jam, butter, milk, cereal), a kitchen (complete with utensils, seasonings, and cleaning supplies), a toilet (everything is provided except toothpaste, which you need to bring yourself), indoor/outdoor dining tables. The accommodation conditions are excellent, and the facilities are very comprehensive.

Many people have asked about cleanliness before, and it’s actually quite good. But because it’s a tent, there will definitely be bugs. We brought insect repellent and mosquito repellent, and we were hardly bitten by bugs. We used our own towels, and they dried quickly in the good sunlight during the day.

There’s no shampoo in the bathroom, only hand soap and body wash, so remember to bring your own.

Food

You can prepare BBQ food yourself, as there are outdoor BBQ stoves available. Or bring your own hot pot stove for a great experience. Each tent has a kitchen, and the refrigerator contains eggs, bacon, bread (oil, salt, black pepper, butter, and jam are all available). Cutlery is also provided, but if you’re particular about cleanliness, you can bring your own.

The electric kettle is a bit old and not very clean, so you may want to bring your own if you mind. There’s also a microwave, so it’s actually quite well-equipped.

Entertainment and things to do

The farm has a tennis court and a swimming pool. Although not very new, if you have nothing to do in the summer, you can give them a try. There’s a green double-decker bus parked on the farm, which serves coffee in the morning

In the morning and evening, you can feed the animals and collect eggs. The kids absolutely love it

They also offer Buggyrides for $50 each, which allows you to tour the entire farm. The farm is close to 100 acres, very very large. I heard they also have a 10-year plan to build a Conference Centre mainly for weddings. They also plan to add more tents and accommodations.

At night, you can have a bonfire, roast marshmallows, and stargaze

Because we were worried that the kids might not have enough to do on the farm, we brought some cars and Nature Play toys ourselves

Compared to the smaller farms around the city, this is a truly large farm. Highly recommended
