This Sunday’s happiness was brought to us by Bibra Lake Regional Playground!
No wonder it’s known as the ultimate “energy burner” among Perth mums — our kid had so much fun they completely lost track of time. Even on the way home, they kept saying, “Can we come back again tomorrow?”
Bibra Lake is a huge playground that’s perfect for both big kids and little ones. There’s plenty to do — BBQ facilities, a water play area, and all kinds of climbing equipment to keep kids entertained for hours.
It’s also a great spot for summer birthday parties.
Only about 20 minutes from Perth, making it an easy and fun day out!

I’ll say, before going I didn’t really do research, just randomly searched a bit for what there is to play on the Perth south side and then just went there.
The park is really very big and fenced up, all four sides are fencing. Walking in through the gate, the first thing I saw was that flying fox zip line, two cable ropes side by side, can slide together — my kid saw it and directly rushed over and lined up — that design is quite interesting, one of the seats has extra support and also has a seatbelt.
Then what was comparatively surprising was that the rope cable car go-back mechanism lets small children pull the seat back themselves, no need for an adult to run over and help every time — this detail is really very thoughtful.
Then walking further in I discovered there’s a circle of big stones, walk up beside it and it triggers a sensor, then the stones will tell a story in Nyungar language about what this lake means to indigenous people.
The basket like large climbing frame apparently has a design inspiration that comes from the shape of indigenous people’s fish traps — it really is quite special, not that kind of normal square square climbing frame, it’s net shaped with small spaces in the middle you can hide inside.
Over at the turtle sand water area there’s a very big turtle sculpture, with turtle eggs and small turtles buried in the sand ground for children to go dig up — my kid was there digging for a long time — beside it there’s also a water tank and water channel you can open and close yourself, so you really really must bring a change of clothes.
I feel like this place has really thought a lot about families with special needs.
The picnic facilities are also very complete — there’s shade shelter, there’s barbecue, there’s a sink, there are very many trees with natural shade — it’s really great, just lay a mat down and sit and you can stay the whole day.
The address is on Progress Drive on the south side of Hope Road, open every day from 8:30 to 9 o’clock at night.
Anyway it’s just that kind of place that was way better than I expected — not just a casually stop-for-a-moment park, it’s a place where you can really play inside for a whole afternoon.
