Best Indoor Go Kart Experience in Melbourne

We discovered that Melbourne actually has a place where you can play a real-life “Mario Kart”. We loved the Mario Kart ride at Universal Studios Japan when we went, and now we’ve found a similar version right here in Melbourne. It’s called Battle Kart in Footscray, basically a real-world Mario Kart experience. It may not have the ultra-immersive 3D effects like Universal Studios Japan, but it’s still fun enough to make me scream in excitement three times.

There are 4 game modes to choose from, and every one of them is incredibly fun.

  1. Race Mode
Just like the Mario Kart, collect items along the track.
You can throw banana peels, bombs, and fire rockets at others.
The moment you get blown up, you’ll swear on the spot!
  2. Snake Mode
Your tail gets longer the more you drive.
If someone hits you, you’re out.
If you hit the wall, you’re also out.
It’s so intense your palms get sweaty, but it’s incredibly addictive.
  3. Color Block Mode
Wherever your kart drives, the floor turns into your color.
Whoever controls the biggest area wins.
Perfect for team building or friendly chaos with friends.
  4. Soccer Mode
A giant soccer ball rolls around the arena.
Drive into it, shoot goals, and fight for possession, it’s ridiculously fun with friends.

The entire venue feels very futuristic.
They use ceiling projections mapped onto the whole track.
The floor lights up and items suddenly appear.
Each kart even displays your name on the back, the sense of ceremony is next level.

It feels very safe, and kids can play too.
We saw lots of families bringing their kids along.

We forgot the exact price but you can check their website.
From memory, the first game is around $70–80, with discounts for the second game.
Booking 3 or more sessions is more worth it and highly recommended.

We booked 3 sessions and couldn’t stop playing.
Each round is 15 minutes, but you completely lose track of time.
45 minutes flew by.
If the budget allows, book 3–4 rounds, you won’t regret it.

You can book in advance on the website.
Wear closed-toe shoes. Stay nimble and get ready to scream!
