Ferntree Gully Quarry Recreation Reserve Playground

Ferntree Gully Quarry Recreation Reserve Playground is a great park for kids, and also perfect if you like fishing!

We had been taking numerous visits to Jells Park that it nearly seemed like a home away from home. But having been to the playground one too many times, a friend recommended we check out this place (Ferntree Gully Quarry Recreation Reserve Playground) —it seems to be quite popular lately.

Ferntree Gully Quarry Recreation Reserve Playground reviews

First, this playground is not very large, yet it is distinctive. You will find a pair of slides offering panoramic views of the mountains and lake, a sandpit, as well as a wooden climbing frame. There isn’t much equipment, but little ones stay busy and happy.

By the green lake was the highlight to us. You can’t help but watch the wind send small ripples over the water. There are a few prime photo spots by the shore, plus a fence to keep things safe.

And broad grassy lawns that great for running.

You can find BBQs with shade ideal for picnics, to be honest, the real magic is the park’s recessed design. It’s hidden away in a quiet neighborhood, offering a quiet, hidden charm.

Head down the winding path and the lake comes into view: beautiful scenery all around you. People come here for fishing, a brief swim, kayaking, boating, and good old-fashioned picnics.

You’ll also see a couple of tiers of walking paths by the lake—great for biking and scootering, or if you simply want to stroll with your dog.

Just a heads up: you have a few options to reach the lakeside—slopes, stone steps, and the sizable white stones. Several steps are placed quite far apart, and the grassy area might be slippery, so watch the little ones closely. Still, it’s a calm and welcoming park, and we are already arranging our upcoming trip.

You will find it close to the car dealerships within Ferntree Gully. Find the 24-hour Woolies and take the next left—you are there.

It’s just beside the train station, so public transportation is an option if you don’t want to drive.

A quick note—the parking area has limited space for cars, so when it’s sunny on weekends, you might need some luck to find a spot.
