Wadanggari Park is a convenient and safe spot to let the kids burn off some energy! Right next to the St Leonards Library. This playground is mainly focused on climbing. My two girls (6 and 4 years old) both love it, and we’ve visited many times over the past three months.
The highlight is the giant yellow climbing structure inspired by the Australian native Banksia plant. It’s best suited for kids aged 3 and above.
One thing to note is that there isn’t much shade, so it’s better to visit when the weather isn’t too hot or sunny.
It can get quite busy, and there aren’t many places to sit, so it may not be the best choice if you’re looking for a quiet playground.
Wadanggari Park Playground reviews
I think it’s a good park if you live nearby or are planning a half-day trip around St Leonards. It’s worth visiting if you haven’t been before, but apart from the large climbing structure, there actually isn’t that much to play with. It’s not a playground that would make me want to keep coming back.
Every time we’re here, we also stop by the local Coles. It’s much bigger than the one in the city, and I really like it. There’s also an Asian supermarket with Chinese, Japanese, and Korean groceries. I’ve bought rice there before, and it was so fragrant.
- The climbing equipment is full of interconnected paths and is also perfect for playing hide-and-seek.
- Two spiral slides.
- The swings are nicely shaded, and the overall design is really good.

As for food, we’ve tried a few places here:
- Lanzhou Beef Noodles – I really like their Fish-Fragrant Shredded Pork. It’s a little oily but goes so well with rice.
- Camy’s Chargrill Chicken – We usually order the half roast chicken meal, and it’s always delicious.
- Dozo – A Japanese restaurant with good ramen and grilled dishes.
We’ve also bought pretzels, bagels, and cookies from the bakery under the escalators, and everything we’ve tried has been pretty good.
There’s also a library (also downstairs near the escalators), where we’ve spent some time reading picture books in the children’s section.
Parking: Mall 88 offers 2 hours of free parking.
By train: The playground is directly opposite the train station exit. If you have time, I’d definitely recommend taking the train and exploring the area on foot.
Kids really enjoy this playground, young people can spend time at the library, and grandparents can go for a walk or exercise on the grass next to the sports field. It’s an easy outing for the whole family.
