Today was the Ekka public holiday, so we took the kids to visit the well-known Bradbury Park. The park was packed. The small car park was completely full, so we ended up finding street parking nearby. There were people everywhere.
The playground itself looks very artistic. The roof is covered with colourful transparent panels that create beautiful colours when the sunlight shines through.
Bradbury Park reviews
The playground is more suitable for kids aged 4 years and above. There are lots of challenging climbing structures, and many of them are very tall. There aren’t many play areas for toddlers, so it’s not ideal for very young kids. It felt like the 8-year-olds were having the most fun!
There are plenty of shady trees beside the playground, so if you bring a picnic blanket and some food, you could easily spend a few hours here. It’s definitely a playground worth making a special trip for.
There are also some bike tracks around the park, although they seem more suited to younger kids riding small bikes.
Personally, I think this famous playground is especially great for older kids. They were exploring every corner—running back and forth, climbing up and down, and playing on every part of the playground over and over again. I could also understand why some people have previously raised safety concerns.
I saw one little boy standing on a balance beam more than two metres above the ground. Just watching him made my legs feel weak. At the time, several kids were carefully making their way across. With so many children on the structure, even the slight movement caused by others could easily throw someone off balance. One small mistake and it would be easy to trip or fall.
Although the ground is covered with rubber safety flooring, it still feels quite firm.

Pros
• Plenty of facilities, including BBQs and toilets, making it perfect for a full day of picnics and letting the kids burn energy.
• Very challenging play equipment. Although it’s designed for older children, we found it was still just right for an almost 3-year-old who enjoys climbing.
• The large slides are translucent, unlike some enclosed tube slides that are dark and stuffy. Kids can see the light while sliding, making them much less intimidating and much more fun.
• Great for riding bikes. There are dedicated cycling tracks for scooters, balance bikes, and small bicycles. Beginners can also practise on the flat paths around the playground.
• Parking is reasonable. There’s a medium-sized car park, so finding a space usually isn’t too difficult.
Cons
• Not very suitable for one-year-olds or toddlers who have just started walking. Some climbing structures are simply too challenging for younger kids.
• Some parts have low overhead structures that are somehow easy to bump your head on
• It gets very busy on weekends.
Overall, we highly recommend this playground. If you have adventurous kids who love climbing and exploring, it’s definitely worth a visit.
