I really love spending weekends hunting for little hidden gem shops. Record stores, comic shops, and bookstores are always my top picks. This time, I spent an entire afternoon visiting a few local vinyl stores!
Best Vinyl Record Shops in Adelaide
Clarity Records
Definitely one of the “top-tier” stores in the eyes of many local music lovers.
The shop isn’t very big, but it’s the kind of place where the more you dig, the more addictive it gets. From Punk, Hardcore, Metal to Indie and Jazz, they’ve got a wide range, and you can often find unexpected second-hand treasures.
If you enjoy the feeling of squatting on the floor for two hours flipping through crates, don’t miss this one.
Address: 60 Pulteney St, Adelaide SA 5000
Rerun Vinyl Records
A hidden gem next to Rundle Mall. The first impression when you walk in is: wow, there’s so much here.
It’s said to be one of Adelaide’s largest second-hand vinyl collections, with all kinds of vintage records, rare pressings, and box sets.
Honestly, it’s very easy to go in thinking “I’ll just have a look” and leave the counter holding five records.
Address: Renaissance Arcade, 32 & 35/128 Rundle Mall, Adelaide SA 5000
Streetlight Adelaide
My personal surprise favourite. The overall vibe is super comfortable, a bit like an independent music shop in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
There’s a great selection of Australian local bands, indie labels, electronic, and alternative music.
Even if you don’t end up buying anything, just browsing and listening to music inside feels really healing.
Address: Shop 2/15 Vaughan Pl, Adelaide SA 5000
These three shops are within walking distance of each other, and half a day is enough to visit them all.
Adelaide might not have as many record stores as Sydney or Melbourne, but if you take the time to explore, you’ll notice the owners and customers here truly love music.
Sometimes the best part of digging through vinyl isn’t what you buy, but simply losing an entire afternoon in front of the record shelves.
