We went out for some sunshine again this weekend! The weather is finally warming up, perfect for a short hike and some sunbathing. The trail here at Woolwich Lookout isn’t long; you can easily finish the walk, take photos, and explore in about an hour. The lookout has a unique charm to it!
This dock actually has some historical significance. When it opened in 1901, it was the largest dock in Australia. It was later abandoned and transformed into a recreational park, and this is our first time visiting. You can walk around the U-shaped dock, which is very photogenic on a sunny day.
The old tracks on the ground, combined with puddles that reflect the sky, look absolutely amazing!
Hiking and route – Woolwich Lookout
The route is very simple, it’s more of a stroll than a hike. You can take your time and complete it in about half an hour.
You can walk up along the U-shaped boardwalk to reach Woolwich Lookout, where you can overlook the entire dock.
If you include taking photos by the harbour and gazing at the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it will take about an hour. You can also catch a glimpse of Cockatoo Island, which reminds is that it’s been years since we camped there!
Many people come here for fishing and picnicking. The dock is right next to the park, which has BBQ grills.
Where to park
You can park along Woolwich Rd or Clarke Rd, where there are a few spots available. There’s also a parking lot below, but it requires a fee, so why not save some money if you can?
