The recently opened Charles Heath Reserve Playground, a new hit by the Canada Bay Council, is really buzzing! It’s hard to find a playground in Sydney that’s busier than this new one. This park, a joint project by the council and the state government, cost $5.72 million to create. However, its popularity definitely exceeds some other parks!
What kids can do here
- Two large climbing structures (one with a sandpit and one without)
- Net climbing equipment
- A large sandpit where you can play with water
- Outdoor musical instruments area
- Merry-go-round
- Bouncing net
- Swings
- A cocoon for some quiet time!
- Restrooms right outside the fenced area
Despite the diverse range of activities, the crowd is overwhelming. We think it’s worth a visit for the experience, but overall, it was indeed a little bit crowded.
Where to park
Parking can be tricky, especially during busy times like weekends
- An alley next to the park (one street down from Regatta Rd, there are about 20 spots)
- The other side of the park at Five Dock Leisure Centre (3 hours of free parking, but spots are hard to find due to the park’s popularity)
- If you plan to visit Canada Bay Club for dim sum at Vela Dining & Bar or other meals, you can park at the club’s car park. Plenty of spaces and a short walk to the park
Places to eat nearby
- Across the park, you will find Pasticceria Papa (Five Dock) which is a popular dessert place
- Wagyu House Croydon serves popular Korean BBQ!
Other things to do nearby
- Jungle Buddies, an indoor playground right across the park!
