Before moving into our new home, we made a deal with our kid that they needed to learn to sleep alone. Our son was afraid to sleep alone. When we heard that weighted blankets could help with sleep, we immediately bought one.
When it arrived, grandma said, it’s too heavy! We are a bit hesitated too, but then thought why not give it a try. And, it turns out once you cover yourself with it, it doesn’t feel heavy at all, it’s like a snug fit. Grandma also tried it and she was surprised and also said, hmm, it doesn’t feel heavy at all, it’s actually quite comfortable.
Here is what we think
Upon receiving it, we found it not as heavy as we had imagined. Instead, the fabric feels very skin-friendly and breathable, and it doesn’t take up much space when folded!
However, there is a certain sense of pressure, but it’s still bearable! It does give a solid feeling of being wrapped up!
We did some research before we decided to buy one for our kid. It is not recommended getting a weighted blanket for young kids or babies! If an adult using a weighted blanket may struggle to turn over, it may present a potential risk for young kids!

If you are buying one for your kids, you may want to buy the ones that are designed for them. We know you can get the weighted blanket on some independent online shops. If you prefer not to buy online, you can find them in places like Costco, Kmart or Adairs.
And again make sure choosing the correct weight especially when you are buying online!
So far, we do find it seems to improve our kids’ sleep quality and alleviate anxiety.
