After visiting The Farm, we took a ride on the Byron Bay Train. It still has a bit of a retro and nostalgic vibe. The whole journey takes about ten minutes or so. Mainly, it’s just for snapping some photos! The scenery along the way is also excellent!
The entire train is like an antique, even the ticket seller’s ticket pouch is decades old, adding to its vintage charm.
About the Byron Bay Train
- In 2018, it was the world’s first solar-powered train!
- The Byron Bay Train, entirely powered by solar energy, shuttles between North Beach and Byron Beach stations.
- It covers a distance of 3 kilometres and takes approximately 10 minutes for a one-way journey.
- The train consists of only two carriages and is converted from old-fashioned trains!
The train’s seats are even more comfortable than the ones we’ve experienced in Sydney.
Overall, despite the short journey, it’s filled with joy and contentment!
Additional information and tips
Ticket prices (Check the Byron Bay Train website for the train schedule and itinerary)
- Adults: $5 one way, $10 return
- Children aged 6-13: $3 one way, $6 return
The train only travels between Byron Beach and North Beach stations. Parking is not great and pricey on the Byron Beach side, so it’s better to park for free at North Beach!
