Clifftop at Hepburn is an hour and a half away from the Melbourne city centre, and it’s crucial to remember to book well in advance as it’s really difficult to secure a reservation! This B&B received the Interior Design Award in 2016 and the Melbourne’s Most Beautiful Accommodation Award in 2017. Every room has its own individual name. For couples seeking an intense Instagram-worthy atmosphere, options like Rome, Vienna, Paris, and Venice are available, featuring breathtaking 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass floor.
Clifftop and Solitude
Firstly, the room categories are called Clifftop and Solitude.
For Clifftop, the room types are named: Serenity, Tranquility, and Evoke.
For Solitude, the room types are named: Paris, Rome, Venice, and Vienna.
All rooms at Clifftop look as shown in the pictures. They are all 2-bedroom units. The main difference between this room and the other two is the absence of the popular transparent glass floor. However, in my opinion, this room is very suitable for sharing with friends due to its comfortable ambience.
Solitude’s room types are the ones often seen in media, with the famous Sheer Glass Floor. Paris and Rome have wooden bathtubs, while Venice and Vienna only have showers. These rooms accommodate only two people and do not accept bookings with children, making them ideal for couples or close friends.
All rooms have a minimum 2-night stay policy, but sometimes you might come across a Clifftop 2-bedroom room that has been locked and is available for just one night at a more attractive price.
Which one to choose?
- If you have more than two people or are a family with children, it’s recommended to choose the Clifftop room type.
- If your budget allows, couples are advised to select Clifftop rooms. They are more spacious, well-designed, and fully-equipped, but without the transparent glass floor.
- For couples or friends who want to experience a unique design, Solitude rooms are a good option.
Our stay at Clifftop
We chose the Tranquility suite, which doesn’t feature the famous transparent glass floor. Perched on a hill, the house offers stunning views of a forest. The living room is spacious, with three bedrooms and a generously sized bathroom. The house is decorated warmly and cozily. There is a spacious bathtub that can fit two people.
The kitchen is well-equipped, with basic cooking ingredients like oil, salt, and spices. You can buy dinner ingredients from the Coles supermarket in town and cook in the accommodation.
The host also provides complimentary wine, milk, coffee capsules, and tea. The accommodation features a game console and a massage chair, and there are board games and playing cards available, making it perfect for passing the time.
