Rainbow Bay – Hidden Gem in Gold Coast

rainbow bay

Do you only know about Surfers Paradise when visiting the Gold Coast? Do you know there is a hidden gem of a beach that’s as good as the Surfers Paradise!

Surf’s Up at Rainbow Bay Beach

Rainbow Bay is located on the southern end of the Gold Coast, it takes about half an hour to drive from the city centre (starting from Surfers Paradise). It’s located near the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, so you can check out both places!

Rainbow Bay is blessed with bright sunshine and gentle sea breeze, and is covered in large rocks that seem to have grown straight out of the sand. The waves are perfect for surfing, but it’s also a great place for families to relax and swim.

Due to the large number of rocks on this beach, there are three natural rock pools. If you’re feeling brave enough, put on your swimsuit and take a dip. If the pools are empty, you can take some Instagram-worthy photos! However, be aware that the waves can be quite big, so always take safety precautions.

Compared to other beaches in the area, there are fewer visitors at Rainbow Bay.

How to get to Rainbow Bay?

Simply use Google Maps to locate Rainbow Bay at Snapper Rocks.

We visited to Rainbow Bay in the afternoon and there weren’t many people around. The locals were here to unwind and relax, either soaking up the sun, surfing, or just chatting with friends on the beach. Watching the sunset was a peaceful and enjoyable experience!
