Located only about an hour’s drive from Brisbane, Purling Brook Falls is a place that many of us are familiar with. When you arrive, just search for “Purling Brook Falls” and you will see a very large waterfall.
There is also a particularly beautiful suspension bridge that makes for stunning photos. The mist from the waterfall in the sunshine creates a rainbow of colours that is truly magnificent. The scenery is different from every angle on the way up and down the mountain.
What to see at Purling Brook Falls
Purling Brook Falls has several main attractions, including Canyon Lookout, Twin Falls, and Best of All Lookout. At Purling Brook Falls, there is also a moderately difficult hiking trail that takes about 2 hours round trip, descending from the top of the waterfall to the bottom for viewing.
Children aged 4-5 with strong mobility can complete the entire trail independently with the company of their parents. It is very suitable for family activities. There are facilities such as BBQ, picnic tables and chairs, and toilets at the entrance of the park. Friends who are going there should note that there is road construction nearby, so please choose the appropriate route and take precautions against sunburn and insects.
About the Purling Brook Falls
Purling Brook Falls is approximately 105 meters high, with two viewing points. One is located at the observation deck, about 10 minute walk from the starting point, offering a panoramic view from above. The other is at the bottom of the valley, where a suspension bridge provides a distant view, and visitors can also fully immerse themselves in the natural environment by reaching the rock band at the very bottom of the waterfall for viewing and photography.
The natural terrain features create natural swimming pools, which attract many young people for wild swimming 👙 in the hot summer. The waterfall is an easy spot for taking photos with the water splashing and creating rainbow effects when the lighting is good.
Hiking Trial
The hiking trail is not too difficult, and the round trip takes about two hours. It is recommended to go in the morning, as the parking lot there is quite small. For those with good physical fitness, you can continue on to Twin Falls. Both waterfalls are famous attractions in Springbrook National Park, and on a rainy day, they may present a different but equally breathtaking scenery with misty and foggy views.
