Moorabbin Air Museum – Melbourne Aircraft Museum

Moorabbin Air Museum - Melbourne Aircraft Museum

Moorabbin Air Museum is a place that lets you experience being a pilot. It’s also a must-visit spot for families with boys.

Here, you’ll find a variety of aircraft models, ranging from civilian planes to military fighter jets. Each aircraft showcases its history and significance. The most interesting ones are undoubtedly the fighter jets – their appearance and design are really amazing! Hands down, they look cool.

A particularly interesting and must-try experience is the simulation of piloting an aircraft. The graphics are very realistic, and they even change the simulated scenes – truly cool.

What to experience inside the museum

The exhibition is divided into two areas, indoor and outdoor, with dozens of planes of various sizes and purposes parked, most of which are open for visitors to explore.

What attracts us the most is the simulated cockpit. It has both a pilot and co-pilot position. Sitting inside is so cool! It feels like actually flying a plane. It’s like getting a little taste of what it feels like to be a pilot. The museum isn’t particularly large, with both indoor and outdoor sections. There are many planes both inside and outside, and many of them allow you to enter the cockpit for a closer look and even experience sitting in the pilot’s seat.

Inside the aviation museum, you can get a close-up view of the internal structure and equipment of the aircraft, with a myriad of displays that might make your eyes spin. It becomes clear that flying an aircraft is no easy feat, earning my admiration.

An unusual sight is an outdoor fighter jet with a cool structure. Crawling through a small door, the interior structure is very impressive, as if entering a movie scene.

There are vintage planes, quite retro but authentic, a bit dirty but acceptable considering their age. After all, they are from a bygone era.

Initially, we thought it was just some aeroplane models, but we never expected to find various types of vintage planes!

If you’re interested in the history of aviation, there are explanations here that showcase the development of aviation history and flight technology across different eras.
