Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery

Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery

This was our first stop on the Great Ocean Road trip. Since we were staying near Apollo Bay, it took three hours to drive there. Following the principle of a relaxed family trip. And because kids don’t like long car rides, we stumbled upon the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery. With both chocolate and ice cream, this is the perfect place to refuel the kids! We decided to have lunch there, leaving at 11 am, so we didn’t have to wake up early or rush.

Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery
Opening Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily (closed on Christmas Day)
Address: 1200 Great Ocean Rd, Bellbrae VIC 3228
Distance: About 1.5 hours’ drive from the southeast suburbs.

Located right on the Great Ocean Road (B100), just a 30-minute drive from Geelong (we planned to visit a park after lunch, so we skipped exploring Geelong).

There’s a huge chocolate shop offering a wide variety of chocolates. We bought their signature one-meter chocolate bar!

Both inside the restaurant and outside the building, they sell their homemade ice cream. It’s delicious, affordable, and comes in large portions!

Each scoop is as big as our fist. Honestly, one scoop with two flavours is enough for a family because it melts quickly and is hard to finish! Highly recommend the pistachio flavour, which seems to be the most popular!

The food at the restaurant exceeded our expectations. The beef burger was delicious, and from the kids’ menu. You can check out their menu on their website. The hot chocolate comes with a shot of pure chocolate!

Chocolate-Making Sessions

They normally offer chocolate-making workshops, including special sessions for kids. You can check the schedule on their website.

During our visit during the Christmas period, there weren’t any sessions, but the shop has a large floor-to-ceiling window where kids can watch the chocolate-making process.

Outside the restaurant, there’s a small animal zone where kids can see and learn about animals.
