Exploring the Wonders of Victoria’s Buchan Cave

Buchan Cave

Victoria is home to many natural wonders, and among them, we would recommend Buchan Caves as a must-visit destination for short trips or adventures!

Buchan Caves is arguably one of the most stunning secret travel spots in Victoria. Located in a valley, the surrounding scenery is already breathtaking – as you wind your way up the hills in your car, you’ll see lush green grassy valleys, cows, sheep, and horses grazing leisurely on the slopes, and colourful trees all around. The views are so stunning that you won’t want to blink! The drive from Melbourne to Buchan Caves takes approximately a few hours.

Things to do near Buchan Caves

Buchan Caves has two main caves that visitors can explore: the Royal Cave and the Fairy Cave.

Under the guidance of an official guide, explore the extraordinary underground world of Buchan Caves with the Royal and Fairy Caves – it’s truly a wonder to behold. The limestone sculptures, pools with calcite rims, and numerous Baroque-style stalactites and stalagmites are all formed through natural processes that took thousands of years.

If you have a two-hour visit, you can tour both caves. But if you’re short on time and have to choose one, the main difference between the two is the level of convenience. The path to Fairy Cave is narrow and requires more bending and walking, with around 100 more steps than the Royal Cave.

Some people think that the Royal Cave offers more stunning sights with its magnificent construction and decorations, and many wonderful viewing areas. This cave feels more refined than the Fairy Cave and provides excellent photo opportunities.

Make sure you check the Parks Victoria website for cave tour times and more information.

Address: 98 Caves Road, Buchan, Victoria, 3885
