The Esperance Stonehenge is located between Lucky Bay and Esperance and is easily accessible on the way to the national park. It’s recommended to visit in the morning as it closes around 3 p.m. It is said to be a 1:1 replica of the Stonehenge in the UK! If you don’t want to fly to the UK, then you can visit Esperance Stonehenge in Western Australia for a glimpse!
Visiting the Esperance Stonehenge
The entrance fee is $14 per person. The highlight of the stone formation is the magical effect when the sun rises and passes through the centre!
On the morning of the summer solstice (December 21st or 22nd), the sunlight aligns with the heel stone and shines onto the altar stone. The same arrangement is repeated in reverse during the sunset of the winter solstice (June 21st).

A full-scale replica of Stonehenge in the UK
Esperance Stonehenge is a full-scale replica of Stonehenge in the UK. It is made up of 137 solid pink granite blocks, all quarried less than 1 kilometre away from the site, weighing a total of 2,500 tons.
The 10 inner Trilithon stones form a horseshoe shape, with each stone weighing between 28 and 50 tons. On top of each pair of stones, there are lintels weighing 18 tons, reaching a height of 8 meters.
Inside the Trilithon Horseshoe stands another smaller horseshoe made up of 19 blue stones. At the base of the tallest Trilithon Stone sits an altar stone weighing 9 tons. Outside the Trilithon Horseshoe is a circle made up of 40 smaller stones called the Bluestone Circle. Surrounding them are 30 Sarsen Stones, each weighing 28 tons, topped with lintels weighing 8 tons. Together, they reach a height of nearly 5 meters.
The construction of the Stonehenge replica is designed to align with the winter and summer solstices in Esperance!
