CherryHill Cherry Picking Guide

CherryHill Cherry Picking Guide

Cherry season is back in Melbourne, and the Cherry Hill farm offers an endless feast of cherries!

CherryHill has two farms this year. The original one is at 474 Queens Rd, Wandin East, opening on 11/27. The new farm is at 739 Maroondah Hwy, Coldstream.

The New Farm

The cherries at the new farm may be slightly smaller, but overall, the quality is better. The new farm is spacious, and a shuttle bus runs every 5 minutes from the check-in area to the cherry-picking zones. There are picnic spots and comfy sofas near the check-in.

Cherry Picking

Guides will take you to designated picking areas and instruct you on how to pick and choose cherries. When picking, explore deeper into the area for better quality cherries; the ones near the entrance tend to be picked first. Pay attention to cherries higher up, as they receive more sunlight and might be missed by others. Since there’s no washing area, you can either eat them directly or bring a small bowl, rinse them with water, and enjoy!

Weighing

You can weigh and pay when leaving the shuttle bus area or return to the check-in house. Takeaway is $17 per kilogram, which, compared to supermarket prices, might not be significantly cheaper but is more about the experience.

The Gift Shop

After payment, head to the picnic area where there’s a souvenir shop offering different flavours of cherry ice cream, CherryHill merchandise, and packaged cherries. We highly recommend trying the ice cream, especially the one with chocolate chunks – a delightful mix of tangy and sweet!

Gift Shop Location: 739 Maroondah Hwy, Coldstream, VIC 3770.

Ticket and Fee

We booked tickets in advance on the official CherryHill website – $25 per person for unlimited cherry tasting. It’s recommended to book early; around noon can get quite sunny, and queues may form as more people arrive, depleting the best cherries.
