In the early days of summer in Perth, whether you’re with friends or enjoying a weekend of family time, cherry picking is always a great choice!
We visited it at the Mr Peter Orchard Farm when it wasn’t as popular. This time, the experience was truly enjoyable. Unlike the rushed visit last time, we took our time to not only pick cherries but also explore the farm.
It turns out their farm is quite extensive, hosting various types of fruits: cherries, avocados, different varieties of pears, apples, persimmons, raspberries, apricots, plums, grapes, pomegranates, peaches, and more. There are even roaming chickens and giant cacti. If it grows in Perth, they have it here!
The entrance fee is $10 per person, and you can eat the cherries while picking. The remaining cherries cost $30 per kilo to take home. However, it’s important to discourage waste: if a cherry accidentally falls, it’s okay to pick it up to avoid unnecessary waste. Peaches can also be picked and are crispy and sweet.
Besides cherries, you can also purchase pre-picked avocados, apricots, plums, and cherries. The prices range from $30 to $20 per kilo, depending on size and quality.
This year, the cherries as a whole ripened earlier (about two and a half weeks ahead of the usual schedule). So, if you’re planning to pick cherries, it’s best to go early.
