Inside the New Landing Playcentre Altona

We recently took the kids to check out the new Landing Playcentre Altona, and it was honestly a nice surprise. From Docklands it’s less than 20 minutes across the Westgate Bridge, which makes it very convenient if you live near the CBD. The price is pretty good too. One adult and one kid costs just over $20, and it even includes a $4 drink voucher, which makes it one of the better value playcentres in Melbourne.

As soon as we walked in, the kids ran straight to the giant ball pit. It’s really big and even has interactive projection games.

The most popular attraction was the colourful light tunnel slide, along with a stainless steel spiral slide and two large wave slides.

There are climbing structures everywhere, with play equipment in every corner. One interactive feature has a spider light game, and the kids stayed there playing for quite a while. If you climb up and go through a passage, you’ll reach the inflatable bouncing area, paired with a wall that has Mario-style climbing obstacles, which instantly puts kids into adventure mode.

There is also a baby area for younger kids, with a spinning giraffe, a step piano, and a small climbing slide.

The facilities all feel quite new. Upstairs there’s a mini supermarket and play kitchen, but the biggest attraction for our kids was the repair workshop and construction zone, where they can fix cars and move bricks with toy trucks.

One thing I really appreciated was that the play area is tall enough for adults to stand upright.

Finally there is a playcentre where parents don’t have to crawl through tunnels and come out with a sore back!

Because it’s newly opened, it can get a bit busy, but the space is actually quite large. Sometimes the staff even open the party rooms to add extra seating, so overall the experience was really good.
