Located in Loftus, Sydney, the tram museum is a niche and lesser-known vintage museum.
Similar to the bus museum in Leichhardt, this museum is a bit smaller in size. You can casually explore the impressive collections in the exhibition hall, including rare prison trams! Plan to spend about one and a half to a maximum of two hours experiencing the museum and two tram routes.
The experience
The museum houses a variety of nostalgic trams, most of which you can board to experience and take photos. You can even step into the driver’s compartment – a real treat for the kids!
Vintage Tram Experience: 2 routes (driving times vary, depending on volunteer staff availability)
- Jungle Safari to Royal National Park
Round trip in 20 minutes, with a few minutes stop at the national park before returning to the museum. - To Loftus Train Station
Round trip in 10 minutes, then back to the museum.
The museum has a small shop and a gift cart where you can purchase small items and beverages. You can also pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it in the picnic area at the Railway Square.
