Best Japanese Ramen Restaurants in Sydney
Chaco Ramen
At Chaco Ramen, the owner Keita Abe puts creativity above all when making ramen. His four signature ramen dishes stand out: Spicy Coriander, Yuzu Scallop, Fish Salt, and “Rich Soy Sauce.” This is my go-to Japanese ramen shop, and I highly recommend it. Located at 238 Crown Street, Darlinghurst.
Senpai Ramen
Senpai Ramen, owned by chef Chase Kojima from SOKYO, offers a unique ramen Omakase experience. They prepare the broth in an unprecedented way, and you can even order abalone ramen. Their new location is in Burwood, situated at G05 88 Archer Street, Chatswood.
RaRa Ramen
At RaRa Ramen, the owner inherits secret ramen recipes from two renowned Japanese masters. The thin Hakata-style noodles used in their bowls are made in-house at the Redfern branch. This place is known for combining the rich texture of ramen with the acidity and flavors of natural wines. Visit them at 60B Regent Street, Redfern.
Mashi No Mashi
With an average bowl of ramen costing around $40, Mashi No Mashi is a luxurious ramen restaurant backed by Tokyo’s hottest dining spot. They specialize in wagyu beef sourced from a single farm in Japan. Try their five signature dishes, including the indulgent beef soup dipping ramen (tsukemen). They also offer wagyu dumplings and char siu buns. However, be prepared for the high prices. Located at Level G, The Star 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont.
Bones Ramen
Bones Ramen is a small and casual ramen shop that brings a modern twist to this beloved cuisine. Alongside their ramen selection, they offer a range of carefully crafted izakaya-inspired snacks. Don’t miss the chicken soup ramen with grilled chicken wings and rich chicken oil, topped with char siu (pork and chicken), mizuna, and seasoned bamboo shoots. They also have a selection of wines and local beers. Find them at 51 Bayswater Road, Rushcutters Bay.
Ryo’s Noodles
As the first ramen shop in Sydney, Ryo’s Noodles maintains exceptional quality. The curly noodles are soaked in delicious broth and can be paired with ingredients such as pork, bamboo shoots, boiled egg, shrimp balls, or sesame. You don’t have to include all the toppings together. However, be prepared for a long queue as it extends to the end of the block starting from the second day of Ryo’s opening. Find them at 125 Falcon Street, Crows Nest.
