This garden is the former reservoir, abandoned due to urban development, has been transformed into an industrial-style secret sunken garden! It also serves as a gallery hosting free public exhibitions! We personally find this kind of urban renewal especially meaningful, not only it reflects the for history but also showcases the warmth of this city! It gives the cold ruins a new look and meaning.
It opens daily from 8am to 8pm.
The architectural style retains much of the original reservoir structure, giving it a historic feel reminiscent of Rome’s Baths of Caracalla!
The garden is beautifully arranged with plants and flowers.
Morning or evening visits offer the best lighting for bright and beautiful photos. There’s a spacious boardwalk in the garden where you can take a leisurely walk and snap some pictures! Occasionally, you might even see couples taking wedding photos here.
What is the history of Paddington Reservoir?
Paddington Reservoir Gardens is a heritage-listed park located in the eastern part of Sydney. Designed by Edward Bell, it was built between 1864 and 1866 to operate as a reservoir, receiving water supply from the Botany Swamps pumping station to parts of Sydney from 1866 to 1899.
