Shizuka Ryokan – Japanese Inn in Melbourne’s Hot Springs Town

Shizuka Ryokan

Every year, we visit the Daylesford Hepburn hot springs town, and this time we stayed at the Japanese inn, Shizuka Ryokan. It has a serene and distinctive Japanese atmosphere!

The overall decoration is strongly influenced by Japanese style. Upon entering, you might wonder where the bed is? In fact, at night, you will be sleeping on a tatami mat with a Japanese-style futon (the staff will help set it up for you!). Lying on the tatami is quite an unique experience, and the room is filled with the scent of cool summer mats from childhood memories.

The Japanese-style courtyard is exquisite. The backyard houses sheep and horses. During outdoor dining, they stroll around in front of you, creating a peaceful and healing atmosphere.

The accommodation includes a traditional Japanese breakfast which includes the grilled fish, rice, miso soup, and side dishes, which is a great advantage so you don’t need to go out to find food. At $400 per night, including breakfast, the price pretty reasonable!
