Yakult Factory Tour
We wasn’t aware that Yakult factories could be open to the public before. We learned about it from a friend and had initially planned to visit during a school holiday. However, it was already fully booked, so we scheduled the first week after school resumed.
The Yakult factory is located in Dandenong South, and this Melbourne factory is the only one in Australia responsible for producing and distributing all Yakult supplies throughout Australia and New Zealand. The entire production floor is impeccably clean, and the tanks used to make Yakult are also thoroughly cleaned. They send workers inside for deep cleaning at regular intervals.
Yakult Factory Tour
During the tour, a staff member guides you and shares information. Each child is given a card with four stamps to collect. You get to visit every workshop and laboratory, witnessing the entire process from bottling to canning and packaging, showing how the Yakult you buy in supermarkets is made. You learn that there are 6.8 billion probiotics in one tiny Yakult bottle, which is quite fascinating for the kids.
There’s a large Yakult model at the entrance and a whole row of Yakult murals, so be sure to take photos!
After The Tour
After the tour, you go to a rest area where everyone gets to have a Yakult and the kids watch an animated Yakult probiotics movie. They learn some digestion facts and are encouraged to eat more vegetables. Then, the kids receive a little gift. The entire tour is well-organised.
