Hercules Street Park Hamilton
Things we like
The park itself is indeed beautiful and its very aesthetic. It is an industrial-themed playground. The landscaping is well done, making it a great spot for picnics.
Overall, it is an all-in-one playground with seamlessly integrated features like climbing, slides, hide-and-seek, and more.
In the summer, there are scheduled sprinklers in the water play area, so your kid can cool off and have some fun in the water. There is a large grassy area all around for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. There’s also a small zone where furry friends can run around.
There’s also a dedicated bike path for kids, a basketball court, and some fitness equipment nearby. The play area is not very large, and there’s shade cover, so it’s not scorching, but sun protection is still a must. On extremely hot days, it can get pretty warm.
We feel that this park is better suited for older kids. Our kid played for less than an hour in total and then insisted on going back home.
Parking
The park itself has very limited parking! Just 4 spots! While street parking is free for 4 hours, it’s still not abundant. We visited on a Monday, and finding a parking spot wasn’t a breeze. (we can only imagine how much harder it is on weekends.)
The park had fewer visitors, but the streets were packed with parked cars, making it quite inconvenient. Be prepared for the challenge of finding parking, or maybe it was just my bad luck.
If you live nearby or happen to be passing through the area, it’s worth a visit. However, if you’re planning a special day out or expecting your child to play for an extended period, we’d say it’s not really necessary. Between the parking challenge and the toll expenses, you might as well opt for an indoor playground to beat the scorching heat.
