Introduction to Creative Photography
During this 3 week introductory camp your child will not only learn about photography, but we will also learn how to find the extraordinary in our everyday. And at a time like this, that is an important skill. By the end of this class they will understand the basics in lighting, composition and location to shoot really COOL images. This camp is suitable for an iPhone (or any smart phone) to Digital SLR. This camp is for Grade 4-7 students as kids do need to be able to work independently.
How does the On-Line Photography Camp Work? Each week we will meet 2 times for a 45 minute secure Zoom learning session. Students will be given an assignment after each class. Selected students will share their assignments with the other campers at our next Zoom session. Everyone will have the opportunity to receive feedback from their instructor.
Week 1: We will be learning about the history of photography and cameras. The students will get an appreciation for how easy photography has become in our digital world. We will also learn about a photographer’s tool kit. Students will start with the the basics to creating a great image and seeing the world around them in a new way.
Week 2: Your kids will learn how to find the best light for their images. And if they can’t find it, they will learn how to make it. Parents will love these tips too. They will also learn top composition rules. All things that can make or break their images.
Week 3: Your kids will learn basic editing techniques and some fun creative ideas for image making. Gather all those paper rolls, we are going to use them! We will also dive into how to tell a story with a single image and a group of images. Wait to you see what they can create after this week.
Camp will end with a 7th session – A Virtual Photography Exhibit. Family and friends are invited to attend this final session to see the kid’s amazing work.
