Bungarribee Playground
This weekend, we took the kids to Sydney Zoo. Bungarribee Playground, which we visited a few years ago, is actually just behind the zoo, separated by a wall. This time, we noticed some significant upgrades.
Firstly, they’ve added sheltered areas over the sandpit, ensuring the kids are protected from harsh sunlight. Back when we visited, there was no shade, and the trees were just recently planted saplings.
They’ve also introduced a zipline, and it’s been a hit. There are two lines, and there are always three or four kids waiting their turn. These ziplines are the kind where older kids sit on a small round disc without any safety harness, so they’re not quite suitable for younger kids.
The once barren grounds are now lush with grass, and the open areas in the distance have opened up. This space is now perfect for soccer, and scooting around, and they’ve even introduced an electric scooter rental project similar to the shared bikes. Helmets are provided, and we saw quite a few parents scooting around with their kids.
There are plenty of parking spaces, with an open area right next to the sports fields, making it quite convenient.
Overall the facilities are well-equipped, and the public restrooms are clean.
There’s a BBQ area, drinking water stations, and of course, the ever-present ice cream van playing its jingle. We started in the afternoon and played until evening, with each family bringing snacks and drinks. The kids would play, eat, and then continue playing. It’s a great place for a day of fun!
