Is the Immigration Museum worth it?

After living in Melbourne for over a decade, we finally visited the Immigration Museum for the first time. To my surprise, we accidentally stumbled upon this hidden gem, perfect for a day out with kids. It’s quiet, engaging, and not exhausting for parents! It’s definitely worth a visit for both kids and adults!

Don’t miss the ‘Joy’ exhibition on the second floor!

This space truly captivates kids’ hearts. With a burst of colours and seven interactive art installations, it explores the meaning and power of joy. For adults, it evokes nostalgia and a sense of belonging, while for kids, it’s pure fun, an immersive experience in creativity and colour.

A stunning Notre-Dame exhibition on the ground floor

This new exhibition takes visitors on a 3D, 360-degree journey through the breathtaking history of Notre-Dame de Paris, including its tragic fire and challenging restoration. We initially thought our son might find it boring, but it turned out to be the area he spent the most time in! He was completely engaged, asking staff questions and interacting with the displays.

Hands-on activities and a cozy children’s library

The museum also offers creative activities like the Notre-Dame Windows Craft and a children’s library, perfect for kids of different age groups. With so few visitors, parents can relax on the couches while kids focus on crafts and reading independently, great for both learning and unwinding.
