Finding the Mysterious Cave on the Cliffside – Sydney Skylight Cave

How to find the Skylight Cave at Cape Solander

This time, while whale watching at Cape Solander, we explored a naturally formed cave nearby. It’s quite mysterious and popular on Instagram and TikTok. Here’s a guide to exploring the cave.

The cave is located in the southern part of Sydney at Cape Solander, about an hour’s drive from the CBD. Once inside (ticket price is $8), it’s easy to find parking, and you don’t need to buy a separate parking ticket.

How to find the Skylight Cave at Cape Solander

The cave isn’t easy to find but also not hard to spot, as there are usually many people gathered around the area, and you can see the direction they’re heading from afar!

It’s only 200 meters away from the Cape Solander whale-watching lookout and parking lot, but there’s no direct path to it. Follow the trail, keeping an eye on the coastline, and once you spot the cave, find a place nearby to climb down. There’s no direct route, so be cautious. The location on the map is called the Skylight Cave.

Make sure to choose appropriate footwear and avoid going when it’s raining or the ground is slippery.

Also, don’t visit during high tide, as it can be slippery.

The climb is not too difficult, and the process is quite fun. Be careful at the entrance, as there is a slight slope.

It’s a great spot for photos, especially recently with some graffiti inside, which gives it a cool, edgy vibe for photos!
