Blaxland Riverside Park
Blaxland Riverside Playground is the largest free outdoor children’s playground in Sydney, covering an area of 13,500 square meters. We’ve been there several times, and each visit has brought lots of joy to the kids.
We’ll definitely keep going back. It’s located within Sydney Olympic Park, making it an ideal spot for family picnics, gatherings, and fun activities for both adults and children. On weekends with good weather, it can get quite crowded, but due to its ample space, it never feels overly congested.
Transport
You can park for free for up to 3 hours if you drive (usually, there are plenty of parking spaces, but arriving late on a sunny weekend may be a bit challenging). Alternatively, you can take a ferry to Sydney Olympic Park Wharf and then navigate your way here, which takes about ten minutes.
Dining
Standing at the playground’s high point and looking towards the waterfront, you’ll spot Armory Wharf Cafe, which boasts fantastic scenery. Next to the water play area, there’s a small kiosk that offers simple snacks and coffee.
Facilities
This playground offers a wide range of amenities, including a flying fox, a merry-go-round, multi-person swings, an extra-long slide, climbing walls, sand and water play areas, barbecues, bike riding (with dedicated bike lanes), and a treehouse!
Shade is somewhat limited, so it’s advisable for both adults and children to use sun protection.
