Spring is also lovely when the flowers are in bloom, and the weather is mild. However, if you’re a fan of Christmas markets, Hahndorf has an enchanting one that starts in late November and runs until Christmas Eve. The town becomes even more magical with lights and decorations, and there’s nothing quite like browsing the market stalls with a warm cup of glühwein in hand.
Mount Gambier
So, what is Mount Gambier famous for? Well, for starters, it boasts some of the most stunning natural wonders in the country. One of the main attractions is the Blue Lake, a volcanic crater lake that changes color from grey to vibrant blue during the warmer months. Trust me, you’ve never seen a shade of blue like this before! And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even go diving in the lake’s crystal-clear waters.
But Mount Gambier has much more to offer than just the Blue Lake. Take a stroll through the Umpherston Sinkhole, a sunken garden that’s home to adorable possums that come out to play at dusk. Or head to the Valley Lake Conservation Park, where you can hike to the top of the Centenary Tower for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. And if you’re a foodie, you won’t be disappointed with the city’s culinary scene, which offers everything from fresh seafood to artisanal cheeses.
So, when is the best time to visit Mount Gambier? I’d say anytime is a good time, as the city has something to offer year-round. However, if you’re looking to witness the Blue Lake at its most vibrant, plan your visit between November and March. The city also hosts a number of festivals and events throughout the year, such as the Mount Gambier Show in October and the Fringe Mount Gambier in February, so check the calendar before booking your trip.
Flinders Ranges
This stunning destination in South Australia is famous for many things, but what really sets it apart is its unique blend of rugged landscapes, abundant wildlife, and ancient history.
One of the biggest draws of Flinders Ranges is its incredible rock formations, which have been sculpted over millions of years by wind and water. And if you’re interested in stargazing, winter (June to August) is the perfect time to visit, when the skies are at their clearest and most dramatic. Regardless of when you go, though, you’re sure to be blown away by the natural beauty of Flinders Ranges.
Naracoorte Caves
