What to do on a weekend with bad weather? Take the kids to a science museum is a great option!

This science museum is not boring for adults either, and there are many activities you can interact with your children.

Our kid especially liked the machine that blows up balloons with air currents and the reaction time testing button. There’s a little room where you can lie down and look at the ceiling, comparing cards to find the insects on the ceiling. At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be any, but they are actually hidden in the photos. It’s quite interesting to search for them.

Kids can explore all areas, touching this and looking at that. Time passed very quickly, and we left with a big smile.

If your child has friends to go with, it’s even better. Two kids can play together, and it won’t be tiring for the parents. There’s a special area for babies under 2 years old, so it’s safe for them.

You can book tickets in advance on the official website, and they are divided into time slots, with each session lasting three hours. There is ample parking at the entrance. Inside, there is a cafe to grab some food and a resting area where you can bring your own snacks.

What we think

We’ve previously visited Scienceworks in Spotswood, which is another science museum where you can spend a whole day exploring. This time, we visited Twisted Science in Moorabbin. While it may not be as large in scale as Scienceworks, it offers a richer variety of hands-on activities for children. They even define themselves as a ‘hands-on science’ centre.

Being a newly opened science museum in 2021, the facilities inside are modern and clean. There’s a dedicated playground for kids under 5 and an even more thoughtful separate playground for babies aged 0-12 months. The ticket prices are in the last picture for your reference, and babies under 1 year old get in for free.

Apart from various exploration zones, there’s also a cafe and an eating platform where you can buy food or bring your own.

The park is divided into two time slots for kids to enjoy:

1. 9 am – 12:30 pm
2. 1 pm – 4:30 pm You can choose your preferred time slot.
