Ipswich Children’s Library
The weather this weekend is scorching, with sweltering heatwaves even in the morning. In this kind of weather, keeping the kids entertained can be a challenge, so indoor activities are a must! There aren’t many indoor playgrounds in the Brisbane area, so we decided to take a different approach and visited the Ipswich Children’s Library, located in the vicinity of Ipswich, just a bit further from Brisbane.
The underground parking lot has plenty of spaces, making it very convenient.
There are two libraries here, one is a regular library, and the other is exclusively for children. Make sure you enter the correct building!
While most Brisbane City Council libraries have a small corner dedicated to children, the Ipswich library is entirely for children, so there’s no need to worry about keeping things quiet! Note that if you want to borrow books, you’ll need an Ipswich Council library card.
The library facilities are modern and clean, with comfortable mother and baby rooms and well-maintained restrooms.
The air conditioning is pleasantly cool. In addition to a vast collection of children’s books, there are plenty of fun things to do, including the whimsical experiment tubes, drawing tables and chairs, and dedicated children’s computers. Kids can play, and read, and parents can relax and enjoy some quality time reading with their children. Spending a few hours here on a scorching weekend is quite enjoyable.
The children’s library is open every day, with closing time at 2 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Next to the library, there’s a simple water play area, complete with shaded seating for parents. What’s crucial is that there are public facilities nearby for showering and changing clothes, which are reasonably clean and much better than most public park toilets in Brisbane.
