We visited a small cafe NIJUUSAN which we really really like in Melbourne city! Hidden at a small black-brick corner in Carlton, entering the shop feels like walking into a time machine.
Hand-drawn sign at the door, green Godzilla poster on the wall. Retro TV playing Blu-ray cartoons. Table corners have food toys and handwritten little items.
Every corner is like an animation scene!
We stayed inside for 1 hours and still didn’t want to leave.
The shop only has curry rice, shaved ice, Shokupan Set. We randomly ordered a few, they were all pretty tasty.
If you come here, you must order their THICKENED SALTY MATCHA LATTE, the top salty matcha milk cap plus milk is fragrant and very tasty!
OOLONG KINKAN is also pretty good, osmanthus oolong tea-based shaved ice paired with roasted tea ice cream, homemade kumquat jam, dried apricot, cereal crisps and konjac jelly, enough for 3-4 people to share!
All the matcha used in the shop is from Shizuoka, we heard many people come just to take away their matcha.
Inside there is also a Japanese coin-operated drink machine and a capsule toy machine. We really like this cafe’s atmosphere, and we will definitely come back again!
